Mystic PC Dox Division Presents:
The Skin Game At Bighorn Dox
[=======================================================================]
THE SKINS GAME AT BIGHORN
Welcome to the most innovative challenge in interactive golf. It's
the same picturesque crouse, the same dramatic scoring you've seen on
television. Only now you step to the tee, vying for golf's richest purse!
SHORTCUT: Mastering the Swing
If you feel you can't wait to take your first shot, go directly to the
Swing Screen and place your cursor high on the screen. A flag will appear,
showing you where the hole is located. Use the aim indicator to direct your
drive, relying on the "wind speed and direction box" for guidance.
Next, you're ready to challenge the course. Each BIGHORN hole stretches
before you on the swing screen.
Place your cursor in the aim area and check wind direction and velocity
Then click the up or down arrows on the club button until the club you want
appears. Remember the game always recommends an appropriate club for each lie,
but your strategy may suggest a different choice.
Next, click on the map button for a detailed look at the hole you're
playing, including fairway and green contours, distance to the pin and your
lie.
Drag the marker anywhere on the map to tell you the distance from
your ball to that marker, and this will aim your next shot.
To return to the swing screen click lie.
Another method is to aim your shot, move the cursor to the top of the
screen. You'll see the flag, which shows the locations of the pin. To adjust
direction of your shot drag the "aim indicator, using the wind - speed and
direction indicator" to help you decide where you want to drive the ball.
Now you're ready to swing. To begin, position the cursor over the
golfer. Click and watch the swing indicator begin to fill. Your club's
maximum range is written at the top of the swing bar. Click when you reach
your desired range, but don't relax, because the bar will begin to empty
immediately.
To control hook or slice, try to click just as the swing bar empties
to zero.
Stopping just short of zero will cause the ball to hook slighty
(which can add control and distance), while emptying past zero will cause
a slice, and on a course this challenging, that often means an out-of-bounds
shot and one stroke penalty.
When you reach the green you'll find the lag indicator just above the
map button.
The Lag indicator "reads" the break of your upcoming putt. If the
green area extends above the red level indicator, the break is up; below the
red indicator is down.
The slant of the green area gives you the break left or right, with
the degree of the slant telling you how severe the break will be.
Between holes, the status of the game is shown. For regulation play,
your strokes and standing against par are shown.
For "Skins" play, the money and number of "skins" won and the
remaining purse are displayed. To move on the next hole, just click the mouse
button.
The Game Menu will display other Skins Game features, such as "next
tee" which allows you to move to the next hole as soon as one player has
clinched the "skin" for that hole.
"Gimme" allows you to drop your ball in the cup without putting it.
Within 3 feet, one stroke will be added to your total. Within 30 feet, two
strokes will be added to your score. Outside of 30 feet, you must putt away.
Scorecard displays current scores for all holes and how players stand
against par.
Advice brings up "Pooch", your caddy, with a tip or two to help you
avoid BIGHORN's roughs and ravines. He knows the course better than anyone,
and he's not shy about offering addvice.
Fly-Overs show you a helicopter view of each hole before you tee off-
just like the televised Skins Game.
Help is guided narrative of how the game is played.
The Skin's File Menu includes a New Game option for ending the current
game and starting a new one.
Restore ends the game you're playing and allows you to return to a
previous saved game.
Save saves the current game at whatever hole you've reached.
Quit lets you leave the game.
